This case is just so horrendous. The North Miami Police officer who shot Charles Kinsey, an unarmed black man, while he was lying on his back with his arms in the air now says the shooting was an accident. He says he was aiming for Kinsey’s patient Rinaldo, a man with autism, who Kinsey was trying to return to his group home.
The police officer says he believed that Rinaldo was about to hurt Kinsey, so he fired 3 times at Rinaldo. Rinaldo was not hit, Kinsey was shot in the leg.
This does not add up. If Kinsey’s shooting was accidental, why did they handcuff him and leave him on the ground bleeding while waiting for the ambulance? Why did the cop reply “I don’t know.” when Kinsey asked why he shot him? Why did Kinsey hear the cop tell another officer that he didn’t know why he shot Kinsey?
I am sure the police brutality appologists will be all over the cop’s explanation like white on rice, though.
